Analytics Explainer - Beer Deep Dive

Intro / Purpose
• We need a dashboard to show various insights on single beer
• Need to be able to see demand trends, who is buying, how we sell, relationship between sales and cost
• Important to understand how the single beer compares to its peers

Data Used
• Datasource: Taproom and Wholesale Sales Transactions
• Key Fields: Date, Source, Container, Beer, Customer, Sales, Margin, Volume

• Total sales $, how that compares to other periods and all other beers
• Demand trend by month and quarter
• Importance ranking of selected beer vs all others
• Sales $ by main customer and can vs keg
• Relationship of cost vs sales compared to peers
• Highlight of other customers that we can target

• Select beer to highlight
• Choose period to view

Sample Questions Answered
• How is this beer performing compared to past periods and its peers? Gaining or losing in overall importance compared to rest of portfolio?
• How much volume is being sold by cans vs kegs and what customers are buying the most?
• What’s the relationship between Sales/Cost for each channel and how does that compare to peers? Should we try to make any adjustments?
• Are there any large customers that don’t buy much of this beer currently that we can try to target more in the future?
